Deck Services
Legacy Peak Roofing & Construction provides deck repair and custom deck construction for New Jersey homeowners. Whether your existing deck needs structural repair and a fresh finish, or you're building new from the ground up — we handle every step, including municipal permit filing and all required inspections.
Full deck repair services — replacing damaged or rotted boards, reinforcing loose railings, fixing failing connections, and repainting or re-staining weathered surfaces. We restore structural integrity and appearance without the cost of a full replacement when the existing frame is sound.
New custom decks designed around your home, your lot, and how you live outdoors. We handle design, municipal permit filing, framing, decking, and railing installation — from the first site visit through the final municipal inspection and sign-off.
The Build Standard
We inspect the complete deck — frame, ledger, posts, joists, and connections — before proposing any repair scope. Surface boards can be replaced; a failed frame cannot be painted over. You receive a written assessment of what is structurally sound and what needs attention before any work is proposed.
We handle every step of a new deck build: design, NJ municipal permit filing, framing, decking, and railing — through all required municipal inspections and certificate of occupancy. No handoffs, no subcontractors. One crew, one project manager, one point of accountability.
Every deck repair and new build is performed by our licensed NJ craftsmen with full liability and workers' compensation coverage. All work scope and findings are documented in writing, and a signed workmanship warranty is provided at project completion.
Estimates delivered within 24 hours.
How It Works
We inspect your existing deck or evaluate your property for a new build. For repairs, we document every structural and cosmetic finding in writing before proposing any work. For new builds, we assess grade, attachment point, and site conditions before any design is drawn.
You receive a written proposal with firm pricing before any work begins. For new deck builds, we file the municipal permit application — typically a two to four week process in most NJ counties — so construction can begin immediately once the permit is issued.
Our licensed crew executes the repair or build with daily site cleanup. For new builds, we schedule and pass all required municipal inspections. A final walkthrough with you is completed before any invoice is presented.

Client Experiences
After dealing with a few other companies that were hard to communicate with and didn't really help fix my issues, I'm really glad I found Legacy Peak Roofing & Construction. They took the time to understand what was going on and clearly explained the best way to handle it. The crew was professional, showed up on time, and got everything done without any hassle. Danny the owner was great.
From the initial consultation to the final inspection, their team was professional, responsive, and highly skilled. The quality of workmanship is excellent. You can tell they take pride in their work and truly care about customer satisfaction.
They were the only ones to notice the issue on the first inspection. The crew was respectful and polite, and the cleanup was the best I have ever seen. I would definitely recommend them to all my family and friends.
Deck Questions
Answers to what New Jersey homeowners ask most — from repair vs. replacement decisions and permit requirements to what a proper repaint actually involves.
Repair is the right call when the structural frame — posts, beams, and joists — is sound and the damage is limited to decking boards, railings, or fasteners. Full replacement is warranted when the frame shows rot, significant lateral movement, or failed post bases. We assess the complete structure on every visit and give you a written recommendation before proposing any scope of work.
In New Jersey, decks attached to the home or elevated above 30 inches from grade generally require a building permit. Requirements vary by municipality. Legacy Peak handles the full permit application — including design drawings and specification sheets — as part of every custom deck build. We do not begin framing until the permit is issued.
A proper deck repaint or re-stain starts with full pressure washing to remove dirt, mildew, and loose existing finish, followed by sanding or scraping any peeling areas and spot-priming bare wood before the finish coat is applied. Skipping prep is the reason most deck finishes fail within one season. We do not apply new finish over unprepared surfaces.
Construction itself typically takes three to seven days for a standard residential deck, depending on size and complexity. The longer variable is the permit process, which runs two to four weeks in most NJ municipalities. Legacy Peak files the permit application as soon as the design is approved so the permit timeline runs in parallel with material procurement rather than adding to the project schedule.
In most cases, yes. We match stain colors and finishes as closely as possible using the same or equivalent product line. On older decks where the existing finish has faded significantly, an exact match is not always achievable — in those cases we recommend a full surface refinish so the repaired boards blend with the rest of the deck.
